Our Story

L.A. Bake Shop first opened in Pasadena, California in 1984 when the Smith Brothers Restaurant Corporation wanted to prepare the finest pastries for their first restaurant Reflections. In order to provide the very best desserts, Smith Brothers decided to create their own in-house bakery and L.A. Bake Shop was born. When Smith Brother’s opened more restaurants in Pasadena, L.A. Bake began providing unique desserts for each location. The Carrot Cake became legendary at Crocodile Cafe (1989-2000), the Creme Brulée Napoleon was an instant classic at Parkway Grill (1984) and the Grand Marnier Soufflé still receives rave reviews at the Arroyo Chop House (1997). The location for L.A. Bake Shop was moved to the Arroyo Chop House (pictured above) and continues to prepare desserts and breads for all three Smith Brothers Restaurants.

The word about the exceptional quality of the L.A. Bake Shop’s products began to spread and so did their distribution. L.A. Bake Shop now prepares and delivers baked goods to the finest and most discerning cafes, bakeries and restaurants in the Pasadena area.
